Hello all!
I recently recieved a style-related question in my formspring, and though it is not the first, it dawned on me that it is actually possible that one of my readers asked this question, since I have that handy dandy ask box down there on the side. Anyway, here's the question, and the answer as it is on formspring. If you have any further questions, I would absolutely love to answer them, just ask away in the comments, by formspring, or e-mail!
"Oh. This is tough. I feel like I have a pretty large amount of clothing for a teenager, but I might be wrong. It's most certainly NOT that I have a large amount of money to spend on clothing, I don't think I've ever spent more than twenty dollars on a single thing, and I would much rather be averaging around five dollars. My closet is filled to bursting with hanging clothing, but I don't use a dresser, I have a couple belts, many vintage hand-me-down scarves, no jeans, and a bunch of jewelry. But it's not like I've spent a gazillion dollars on my wardrobe. I almost always buy things on sale, go to thrift stores, and vintage stores, and even the slightly creepy ARC or goodwill, and have a lot of hand-me-down clothing and jewelry. For pictures of a mostly complete and organized closet, I have some on my blog here but it's a bit old.
I've been very blessed with crazy hand-me-downs and space to store them until I actually want to wear them. So if you get a hand-me down that is a little weird, that you're not sure you like, keep it, and maybe in a couple months you'll find that you love it and maybe it's on trend too!
Getting a bit more off topic here, but I just want to say that the amount of clothing or belts or accessories you have doesn't matter. It's the amount of creativity that you apply to wearing those items differently each time. Don't buy another tee shirt, if you already have fifteen, buy a colorful sweater, or a thermal shirt. Don't buy another pair of jeans because they're so comfy, buy some patterned harem pants, or some linen trousers. BE creative in the clothing you do have, and even if you have a small "collection" you can always wear them in new ways because there are so many more ways to wear a patterned shirt than a plain and simple tee. I'm not saying don't buy the tee, just don't buy fifteen of the same thing. agh. I'm getting way off track here. I'm just trying to emphasis that the amount doesn't matter, just the creativity you apply to getting dressed. Hope this helped!"
Thanks whoever asked this! I really enjoyed answering. Feel free to alert me to any more questions you have!
