Winter, already?

This was last Tuesday.  We had a lovely crisp fall day, in which we raked leaves and created leaf-men for Halloween props, jumped in leaf piles and (for Emily) hid in the paper leaf bags.  It was  a lovely day.  We scoffed at the weather report saying we'd get ten inches of snow, but we should have known better.  This is Colorado.
This was the sky the next morning.  The world had indeed been blanketed in a whole lot of heavy, wet snow, and it wasn't finished yet.
The eerie first-day-of-snow morning stillness beckoned to me, and I went outside, trying to capture some of the beauty of the snow, but as always with nature shots, I failed miserably.  But the time was not wasted, I really enjoyed my early morning stomp in the snow.
The branches were so laden with heavy snow, and we heard many reports of power-outages in the next couple of days, but we were more fortunate.  I'm glad we still had our heat.  But several hours of forced no-computer/lights time is really nice every once in a while, and I am quite fond of power outages, most of the time.
As I said before, the snow was quite wet, and made for terrific snow-men later on.
And now, I'm off to ballet.
